Google Provides SEO tips
A series of recent posts from a Google Webmaster Central Blog explained how to improve SEO when using Google news based sites in a Q&A based format. For instance, would putting a city name help target local audiences in the news search? An example of this is the “New York” Times.
The post replay was, “No, this won’t help News rankings. We extract geography and location information from the article itself (see video). Changing your name to include relevant keywords or adding a local address in your footer won’t help you target a specific audience in our News rankings.”
